Andy Warhol was an American visual artist, filmmaker, and producer who became a leading figure in the Pop Art movement. Born Andrew Warhola Jr. to Slovakian immigrants in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he moved to New York City where he became a central figure of the 1960s underground scene. He is best known for his silkscreen prints of consumer goods (such as Campbell's Soup Cans) and celebrities, as well as his 'Factory' studio which served as a hub for the avant-garde. Warhol was also an accomplished photographer, producing a significant body of work that captured contemporary life and celebrity culture.[1,2]
