Archibald MacLeish

Archibald MacLeish was a prominent American poet, playwright, lawyer, and public official. Born in Illinois to Scottish immigrant parents, he studied at Yale University and Harvard Law School, where he graduated first in his class. He was a significant figure in the modernist school of poetry, influenced by Ezra Pound and T.S. Eliot. MacLeish served as the Librarian of Congress and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize three times for his literary contributions. His work often explored themes of liberal democracy and social justice, notably during the Great Depression era.[1,2,4]
