Auguste Grégoire
photographer
Auguste Marie Joseph Grégoire (1888–1971) was a Dutch amateur photographer who became significantly known for his extensive collection of early Dutch photography. While he practiced as an amateur photographer until World War II, his primary contribution to the field was as a dedicated collector and curator. He built a substantial collection of photographs from the beginning of Dutch photography through the 1920s, with a focus on preserving artistic quality. He was also an active board member of the Haagsche Amateur Fotografen Vereeniging (HAFV) for many years. His collection eventually became part of the Prentenkabinet at Leiden University.[1,2,3]
