Bas Heijne

Bas Heijne is a Dutch writer, essayist, translator, and columnist. Born in Nijmegen on January 9, 1960, he grew up in Zwanenburg. He studied English language and literature at the University of Amsterdam. He debuted as a novelist in 1984 with 'Laatste woorden' and has since published several novels, short story collections, and essay volumes. Since 1991, he has been associated with NRC Handelsblad, where he writes a weekly column and serves as an essayist.[1,2,3]
