Bastienne Schmidt is a multi-disciplinary German artist, photographer, and author. Born in Munich and raised in Greece and Italy, she moved to New York in 1987. She studied anthropology in Munich and fine arts in Perugia, Italy. Since 1989, she has worked as a freelance photojournalist for various German and American publications. Her artistic work, which includes photography, painting, and large-scale drawing, is held in major collections including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the International Center of Photography, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Her work often explores themes of memory, human condition, and cultural identity.[1,2,3]
