Bernard Fergusson, Baron Ballantrae

Bernard Fergusson (1911–1980) was a British Army officer, military historian, and the tenth governor-general of New Zealand (1962–1967). Educated at Eton College and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, he served with distinction in World War II. He is noted for his literary contributions regarding life at Eton College, most notably 'Eton Portrait' (1937), which features photography by László Moholy-Nagy. He was a Knight Companion of the Order of the Thistle and received several high honors including GCMG and GCVO.[1,2]
