Bob van Dantzig
photographer
Bob van Dantzig (1944–2018) was a Dutch photographer specializing in the world of dance and theater. He began his career at age eighteen with Het Nationale Ballet, following in the footsteps of his brother, choreographer Rudi van Dantzig. Van Dantzig became an apprentice to Maria Austria, the prominent theater photographer of that era, learning from her between 1968 and 1975. His work is characterized by a classic aesthetic, focusing on black-and-white and grayscale captures of dance and stage performances. He documented major Dutch cultural institutions including the Nederlands Danstheater, the Nederlandse Opera, Toneelgroep Amsterdam, and the Holland Festival. His works are held in collections such as the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.[1,2]
