Bruce Lee Melvin

Bruce Lee Melvin (1891–1965) was an American author and researcher who specialized in the sociology of rural life and agricultural communities. He is best known for his work documenting the social conditions of rural populations during the Great Depression. His research often focused on youth, poverty, and housing in agricultural villages. One of his most notable works, 'Rural Youth on Relief' (1937), was published as a Research Monograph by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) Division of Social Research. Melvin's work provided significant sociological data on the plight of rural Americans during the 1930s.
