Charles Harbutt

Charles Harbutt is a distinguished photographer and educator who spent the first twenty years of his career as a photojournalist. He was twice president of Magnum Photos and worked extensively for magazines in Europe, Japan, and the United States. Since 1980, he has focused on personal artistic photography, exploring themes that blend reality with surrealism. Harbutt is an accomplished educator, having taught at institutions including Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), MIT, Art Institute of Chicago, Cooper Union, Parsons, Pratt Institute, and Bard College. He served as an associate professor at Parsons, the New School for Design, starting in 1999. His work has been exhibited globally at major institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney, and the Centre Pompidou.[1]
