Chris Smith is a celebrated British sports photographer who spent over three decades at the forefront of the field. He began his career in the 1960s with the Daily Herald before joining The Observer in 1970 and subsequently moving to The Sunday Times in 1976, where he served as their principal sports photographer for 30 years until his retirement in 2000. Smith is renowned for his extensive coverage of major sporting events, including world cups in rugby and football, horse racing, cricket, athletics, and boxing. He notably documented the entire career of Muhammad Ali.
