Christiaan Pieter van Eeghen

Christiaan Pieter (Chris) van Eeghen was a Dutch banker, administrator, and art collector. Born in Amsterdam in 1880, he studied law at the University of Amsterdam, where he graduated in 1906. He worked for his family's firm, Van Eeghen & Co., before becoming director of the Nederlandsch Indische Handelsbank in 1925. Van Eeghen was deeply involved in the development and management of Amsterdam's public spaces, notably serving as chairman of the association responsible for the Vondelpark. In 1939, he authored 'De tuin van Amsterdam: Wat er leeft in 't Vondelpark', a work documenting the park's life and history. He was also a significant art collector with a focus on works on paper and served as chairman of several cultural organizations including the Vereniging Rembrandt.[1,2]
