Dr. Christopher Evans was a researcher at the National Physical Laboratory in Middlesex, England. In 1969, he collaborated with Timothy Epps to design an alphabet intended for machine recognition using cathode-ray tube (CRT) systems. Their work aimed to solve the problem of human unreadability in machine-readable typefaces. The resulting typeface was published in 1970 as 'Alphabet' by Steendrukkerij De Jong & Co.[1,2,3]
