Constantine Manos

Constantine Manos is an American photographer of Greek descent, born in 1934 in South Carolina to immigrant parents. He began his professional career at the age of 19 as the official photographer for the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood. After serving in the military and working for publications such as Esquire, Life, and Look, he moved to Greece in the early 1960s, where he produced work that led to 'A Greek Portfolio' (1972). Manos joined Magnum Photos in 1963 and became a full member in 1965. His work is characterized by its vivid use of color and observation of American life, notably captured in his landmark books 'Bostonians' (1974) and 'American Color' (1995). His photographs are held in permanent collections at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and several other major institutions worldwide.[1,2]
