Craig Easton

Craig Easton is a British photographer based in Bristol who specializes in long-term social documentary projects. He began his career as a photojournalist for The Independent in the early 1990s, focusing on issues such as child poverty and Thatcherism. His work often explores community representation, economic hardship, and social deprivation in Northern England. Easton is known for using large format film cameras to create detailed visual narratives. He has received numerous accolades, including Photographer of the Year at the Sony World Photography Awards in 2021 and a Special Prize from The Orwell Prize in 2023. His recent work includes 'An Extremely Un-get-atable Place', a lyrical photographic meditation on George Orwell's time spent on the Isle of Jura.[3,4]
