Dan Eldon

author · photographer

Dan Eldon was a British-American photojournalist, artist, and humanitarian activist. Born in London to a British father and American mother, he moved to Nairobi, Kenya, at age seven, where he developed a lifelong fascination with the African continent. He traveled to over 40 countries, documenting human experiences through both professional photojournalism for Reuters and personal artistic journals. His work often blended photographic reality with vibrant collages and drawings. In 1993, while covering the civil war and famine in Somalia as a photojournalist, he was brutally murdered by a mob of protestors at the age of 22. Following his death, his visual journals were published internationally, becoming a symbol of creative activism.[1,7,8]
