Dan Torop

Dan Torop is a contemporary photographer and digital artist who lives and works in New York City. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University in 1994 and an MFA from the Yale School of Art in 1997. His work often explores the subjective relationship between land, inhabitants, and the natural world, utilizing both photographic and digital media to reflect on ideas of estrangement and reconciliation. Torop has held various academic positions as an assistant professor at Cornell University, Florida State University, and Columbia University. He is a frequent participant in residencies and exhibitions globally, including projects with The Lynden Sculpture Garden and MacDowell. His publications include 'Skydiving' (2010), which features landscapes and portraits exploring the poetic limitations of human life.[1,2]
