Daniela Rossell is a Mexican interdisciplinary artist, photographer, and teacher born and raised in Mexico City. She is best known for her distinctive photographic series 'Ricas y Famosas' (Rich and Famous), which documents the lifestyle, wealth, and social identity of the Mexican elite from 1994 to 2001. Her work explores themes of luxury, inequality, and the construction of femininity, often juxtaposing secular and religious symbols within high-society environments. Rossell's practice is deeply rooted in her own background within the Mexican elite, allowing her to document these spaces from an insider's perspective. Her photographs have been exhibited in prominent international institutions, including the Tate Modern in London, the Whitney Museum in New York, and the Whitechapel Gallery. Her work is held in numerous permanent collections worldwide, including the MoMA, the Getty Museum, and the Museo Jumex.[1,2,3,7,9]
