Daniele Tamagni

photographer

Daniele Tamagni (1975–2017) was an Italian freelance photographer and art historian based in Milan. He began his professional photography career in 2007, winning the Canon Young Photographer Award with a project documenting Congolese dandies. His work is characterized by a deep exploration of marginal street cultures, fashion as a social claim, and ethical storytelling through collaboration with his subjects. He gained international acclaim for his 'Gentlemen of Bacongo' series, which captured the vibrant style of the Sapeurs in the Republic of the Congo. Following his death in 2017 after a long illness, the Daniele Tamagni Foundation was established by his family to preserve his artistic legacy and support young photographers.[1,2,4,5]
