David Douglas Duncan

David Douglas Duncan (1916–2018) was an American photojournalist and photographer renowned for his extensive documentation of Pablo Picasso's life and work. After graduating from the University of Miami in 1938, he worked as a freelance photographer before serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he photographed aviation operations in the Pacific. In 1946, he joined Life magazine, covering the Korean War in 1950. After leaving Life in 1956, Duncan became an independent photographer and developed a deep passion for Picasso's art. He published numerous books featuring his photographs of the artist, including 'The Private World of Pablo Picasso' (published in French as 'Le petit monde de pablo picasso' in 1959). His work is characterized by its intimate access to Picasso's studio and personal life.[1]
