author · photographer
Deidi von Schaewen is a German photographer and filmmaker born in Berlin in 1941. She studied painting and graphic design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin (now Berlin University of the Arts) before discovering photography. After periods in Barcelona and New York, she settled in Paris in 1974. Her artistic work is characterized by an obsession with capturing the ephemeral and the traces of human civilizations, particularly in urban and rural landscapes. She is renowned for her architectural photography and her ability to capture the 'ready made' of everyday life. Her notable series include 'Murs' (Walls, 1977), 'Echafaudages' (Scaffoldings, 1992), and 'Sacred Trees of India' (1990). She has collaborated with major publishers like Taschen and numerous high-profile architects and designers.[1,2,4,5]
