Denise Colomb

Denise Colomb (born Denise Loeb, 1902–2004) was a French photographer known for her humanist portraits of mid-20th-century artists and her extensive travel reportage across five continents. Originally trained as a cellist at the Paris Conservatory, she began her photography career in the 1930s. Her work is characterized by its clarity and focus on the human subject. She created an archive of over 50,000 negatives, which was donated to the French state. In 1981, she was named a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters.[1,2,5,6]
