Eldridge M. Moores was a distinguished American geologist and author who specialized in the study of ophiolites and the geology of the Sierra Nevada. He held a prestigious position as a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at UC Davis, where he led significant research into how mountains are formed. Beyond his scientific work, Moores was an accomplished writer; he collaborated with author John McPhee on several works exploring California's geological history and served as a co-editor for publications regarding the wonders of geology.^[1,2,3]
