Erik van der Weijde

author · photographer · designer

Erik van der Weijde is a Dutch photographer, artist book designer, and publisher. He is the founder of the publishing house 4478zine and the editor of Subway Magazine. His work is characterized by an extensive practice of creating 'artist books'—publications that serve as autonomous works of art rather than mere documentation. Over the last two decades, he has produced over fifty publications ranging from slim photozines to voluminous cloth-bound books. His photographic subjects are diverse and often explore themes of history, culture, everyday habits, and mundane environments, including Nazi architecture, car accidents, animals, and Brazilian urban landscapes. He is represented by galleries such as ChertLuedde Gallery in Berlin and Florence Loewy Gallery in Paris.[1,2,3,4,5]
