Eugene Richards is an American documentary photographer, writer, and filmmaker known for his unflinching and poetic documentation of the human experience. Born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, he received a B.A. in English from Northeastern University before studying photography under Minor White at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His work often explores profound themes such as birth, death, family, poverty, prejudice, and mental health. Richards has been a member of Magnum Photos and the VII Photo Agency. He is recognized for his ability to capture the texture of lived experience in both intimate personal portraits and large-scale social documentary projects.[1,2,4,5]
