Fabio Mauri

author · photographer

Fabio Mauri (1926–2009) was an Italian artist, author, and intellectual. He began focusing on painting in the 1950s but became known for his conceptual work involving language, photography, and installations. In 1976, he published his first book, 'Manipolazione di cultura' (Manipulation of Culture), which explored the ideological instrumentalization of language through photographs from the 1930s depicting Mussolini's Italy and Hitler's Germany. He was a co-founder of the art magazine 'La città di Riga' in 1976. His work often addresses themes of cultural manipulation, history, and the relationship between images and text.[1,3,4]
