Fernando del Paso was a prominent Mexican novelist, artist, and diplomat known for his experimental and baroque literary style. Born in Mexico City in 1935, he studied law and worked as a diplomat before dedicating himself to literature. His work is characterized by its expansive scope, often blending magical realism with European literary traditions. He published his first book, a collection of sonnets, in 1958. Del Paso's novels are noted for their complex structures and deep exploration of Mexican culture and history.
