Frank Uwe Laysiepen

author · photographer

Frank Uwe Laysiepen (born as Ulay) was a German artist based in Amsterdam and Ljubljana. He received international recognition for his Polaroid art and collaborative performance art with Marina Abramović between 1976 and 1988. After training as a photographer, he worked as a consultant for Polaroid, which heavily influenced his conceptual approach to photography. His work often explored the relationship between body, space, and society through radical actions and visual poetry.[1,2,3,9]
