Gerco de Ruijter
photographer
Gerco de Ruijter is a Rotterdam-based visual artist, photographer, and filmmaker born in Vianen in 1961. He is known for his landscape photography, which often employs unique vantage points such as those achieved from flying kites, balloons, or fishing poles. His work is characterized by a quest for pure, unspoilt nature and an exploration of the boundaries of the recognizable landscape, often presenting images without a horizon or traditional compass orientation. He was educated at the School for Fotografie and Fotonica in The Hague and the Willem de Kooning Academie in Rotterdam. His photography often investigates the conceptual relationship between human perception and the physical environment.[1,2,3]
