Germaine Krull
photographer
Germaine Krull (1897–1985) was a pioneering German-Polish photographer and a central figure in the 'New Vision' (Neue Optik) movement of the 1920s and 1930s. Born in Poland (then part of the German Empire), she lived a cosmopolitan life across four continents, documenting diverse cultures and exploring the artistic possibilities of photojournalism and the photographic book. She was recognized for her innovative technical methods and her distinctive, avant-garde artistic perspective. Her work often blended commercial and artistic loyalties, making her a prototype of the 'New Woman' of the early 20th century.[1,2,3]
