Gilles Mora (born 1945) is a French historian and critic of photography, specializing in 20th-century American photography. He is widely recognized for his scholarship on figures such as Walker Evans and his authorship of the 'Manifeste photobiographique.' Mora has held several significant positions in the art world, including serving as the artistic director of the Rencontres d'Arles from 1999 to 2001 and overseeing photography collections at Éditions du Seuil. He has also worked as a curator and exhibition organizer, contributing extensively to the preservation and promotion of photographic history and modernism.[1,2]
