Jean Dieuzaide

photographer

Jean Dieuzaide (1921–2003) was a French humanist photographer based in Toulouse. He was an early pioneer of photojournalism in the region, gaining recognition for his evocative documentation of the Liberation of Toulouse in 1944 and for his notable portrait of General Charles de Gaulle. A prominent figure in the French photographic scene, Dieuzaide was a founding member of several influential artistic groups, including Le Groupe des XV, Les 30 x 40, and the 'Libre Expression' group. His artistic output was diverse, ranging from intimate and meticulously composed still lifes to large-scale architectural studies and humanistic portraits. In 1974, he founded a gallery in Toulouse dedicated to photography, where he served as a curator and promoter of the medium's artistic status.[1,2,3]
