Greg Girard

Greg Girard is a Canadian photographer known for his extensive documentation of social and physical transformations in major Asian cities over three decades. His early work began in the 1970s in Vancouver, focusing on nocturnal light and urban undersides. He relocated to Hong Kong in 1982 and later lived in Shanghai from 1998 to 2011. Girard is widely recognized for his photographic record of the Kowloon Walled City shortly before its demolition in 1993, a project he co-authored with Ian Lambot. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in major collections including the National Gallery of Canada and the Vancouver Art Gallery.[1,2,3,4,5,6]
