Hajime Kimura

Hajime Kimura is a Japanese photographer born in 1982 and raised in Chiba Prefecture, just outside Tokyo. He studied architecture and anthropology at university before beginning his professional photography career in 2006. His work often explores traditional Japanese culture and landscapes, notably the 'Matagi' civilization—an ancient group of indigenous hunters in northern Japan. His debut book, 'Kodama', was published in 2012 and received significant acclaim for its black and white documentation of these mountain-dwelling people.[1,2,3,4,5]
