Hendricus Gerard Hoekstra (1906–1988), known as Han G. Hoekstra, was a Dutch poet, journalist, and editor. He is recognized as a pioneer of modern Dutch children's literature, notably for his work in the 1940s. During World War II, he refused to join the Nazi-controlled Kultuurkamer and became involved in the resistance, where he contributed to the illegal newspaper 'Het Parool'. After the war, he worked as a journalist and editor at Het Parool, covering events such as the Nuremberg trials. He was also known for his children's poetry, which often featured 'naughty' themes, and for translating numerous works into Dutch. In 1972, he received the Constantijn Huygens Prize for his entire body of work.[1,2,3,4]
