Hans Biezen
photographer
Hans Biezen (1947–2024) was a Dutch photographer and artist. Originally trained as a sculptor, he became an autodidact in photography around 1970. His early work focused on street photography and documentary forms, notably capturing daily events of his wife Jet from 1969 to 1975, which led to his first exhibition 'Foto's van Jet' at the Van Abbemuseum in 1975. Over time, his practice evolved toward conceptual works exploring light and space. He was a significant figure in the Eindhoven art scene and served as the 'hoffotograaf' (court photographer) of the Van Abbemuseum during the tenure of director Rudi Fuchs. His work is held in several major collections, including the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, CODA Museum, and Van Abbemuseum.[2,3,4,5,6,7,8]
