Harald Szeemann (1933–2005) was a Swiss curator, artist, and art historian who became one of the most influential figures in contemporary curatorial practice. He began his career as an exhibition curator in 1957 and served as the director of Kunsthalle Bern from 1961 to 1969. Szeemann is renowned for his revolutionary approach to curation, which often involved creating immersive environments and fostering deep relationships with artists. He curated over 200 exhibitions worldwide and was a key figure in promoting avant-garde art and outsider art.
