Hein-Kuhn Oh is a South Korean photographer born in Seoul in 1963. He graduated from the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California (B.A., 1988) and later earned an M.F.A. from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio (1993). He began his career as a documentary photographer in 1989, focusing on the social landscape of Korean society. His work often explores sociological themes through portraiture, capturing the emotional fragility and anxiety of specific social groups. Notable series include 'Ajumma' (middle-aged housewives), 'Girl's Act' (portraits of high school girls in acting schools), and 'Cosmetic Girls'.
