Heinrich Hoffmann

author · photographer

Heinrich Hoffmann was a German photographer and Nazi politician who served as Adolf Hitler's official photographer. He joined the Nazi Party in 1920 and became a close personal friend of Hitler, often accompanying him on travels and documenting his public appearances. Hoffmann's photographs were instrumental in crafting Hitler's public image, portraying him as a charismatic leader. Despite his proximity to power, he held no high-ranking political office but was a millionaire through royalties from the use of Hitler's likeness. After World War II, Hoffmann was tried for war profiteering and art plundering; he was sentenced to ten years in prison (later commuted) and had his wealth confiscated. He died in Munich in 1957.[1,2]
