Henny Riemens
author · photographer
Henny Riemens (1928–1992) was a Dutch photographer who became an essential witness to the CoBrA art movement. She began her training in Amsterdam in the late 1940s under Frits Lemaire before moving to Paris in 1950 with the painter Corneille Beverloo (Corneille). Riemens served as Corneille's muse until 1968 and extensively documented the members of the CoBrA movement during their brief existence, capturing them in their daily lives and studios. She also traveled through Africa in the 1950s with Corneille, producing documentary series in Senegal, Nigeria, and Ethiopia. Her work is characterized by its intimate documentation of the avant-garde art scene. In 1977, she published 'Neem Nou Parijs'.[1,2]
