Henri Berssenbrugge (born Bernard Heinrich Wilhelm) was a prominent Dutch painter and photographer, internationally recognized as one of the most significant Dutch pictorialists. Born in Rotterdam in 1873, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Technical Sciences in Rotterdam before turning to photography. He established a studio in Tilburg in 1901, where he captured scenes of rural life, including farmers, children, and travelers. In 1906, he moved back to Rotterdam and later to The Hague, where he opened a well-known photo studio in the Zeestraat. His work is characterized by its artistic approach to light and composition, often focusing on portraits and urban/rural landscapes. He was active in various photographic movements and collaborated with other notable artists of his time.[1,2]
