Henrik Barends
designer
Henrik Barends is a Dutch graphic designer born in Amsterdam in 1945. He began his career in the early 1960s and became known for a highly individual style characterized by an interplay between image and text that tests the limits of legibility. In 1985, he began collaborating with Anneke Pijnappel, eventually establishing their own design company, Barends & Pijnappel, in 1996. His work includes book covers, posters, logos, and exhibition designs. He also co-founded Galerie Baudelaire in Antwerp in 2002, which is dedicated to international art photography.
