Henry Miller

Henry Miller (1891–1980) was an American novelist, essayist, and travel writer known for his radical, semi-autobiographical works that challenged mid-20th-century literary norms. His writing often blended stream of consciousness with explicit language and surrealist free association. A perennial Bohemian, Miller spent significant time in Paris during the 1930s, where he befriended many avant-garde artists, including Brassaï, whom he famously dubbed 'l'œil de Paris' (the eye of Paris). His works were often banned or censored for their candid exploration of sex and social criticism. He is considered a major influence on the Beat Generation and modern literature.[1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10]
