Ilse Frech

Ilse Frech is a Dutch-Macedonian visual artist, filmmaker, and documentary photographer born in Amsterdam in 1972. She studied photography at the Royal Academy of Art – KABK in The Hague (1990–1994) and later obtained a Master of Arts from HEAD – Genève in Switzerland (2011–2013). Her work often explores themes of identity, migration, and cultural heritage. She gained international recognition with her documentary projects on Muslim refugees and youth in Paris' banlieues. In 2008, she published her first monograph, 'I Am – Paradox Identity', which documents the lives of young Muslim women in France.[1,2]
