Jack Kerouac
author
Jack Kerouac (1922–1969) was an American novelist and poet who became a leading figure of the Beat Generation. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, to French-Canadian parents, he is best known for his novel 'On the Road' (1957), which chronicled the lives of restless young people seeking spiritual and personal freedom across the United States. Kerouac was a pioneer of 'spontaneous prose,' a style that emphasized immediate expression over traditional literary structure. His work often explored themes of spirituality, travel, and the search for authenticity in post-war America. He was a close friend of Robert Frank, who commissioned him to write the introduction for the first American edition of 'The Americans'.[3]
