Jacob Aue Sobol

Jacob Aue Sobol is a Danish photographer born in Copenhagen in 1976. He began his formal training at Fatamorgana, the Danish school of documentary and art photography, in 1998. His work focuses on the universality of human emotion and the search for love within often harsh or isolated surroundings. Sobol has lived and worked extensively across the globe, including periods in East Greenland (where he lived as a fisherman and seal hunter from 1999 to 2002), Guatemala, Japan, Thailand, Russia, and Canada. He became a nominee at Magnum Photos in 2007 and achieved full membership in 2012. His photographic projects often document intimate human connections and the daily lives of people in remote or culturally distinct environments.[1,2]
