Jacob Kohn was a prominent Austrian furniture manufacturer and co-founder of the firm J.&J. Kohn in Vienna. The company became a major rival to Gebrüder Thonet in the production of bentwood furniture. In 1914, J.&J. Kohn merged with Mundus AG, and by 1921/1923, these entities merged with Gebrüder Thonet to form the Thonet-Mundus Concern.
