Dutch[1] b. Kruisweg, Groningen, Netherlands[1] active 1916–1972

Jacob Molenhuis (1894–1987) was a Dutch photographer and bicycle maker in the Marne region of northwestern Groningen. For more than half a century, he was the only professional photographer in this agricultural area, capturing thousands of portraits of local residents who desired to be immortalized. His work is noted for its nostalgic and authentic representation of a disappearing rural society. He is recognized in the Photography Book by Phaidon as one of the 500 best photographers in the world.[1,2]
