Jan Kaila is a Finnish artist, designer, and academic. Born in 1957, he has a diverse career spanning photojournalism, documentary photography, and contemporary art. Kaila is known for his engagement with visual storytelling and his role as a curator and advisor in artistic research. He has held prestigious positions, including serving as the Dean of the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki and a professor at the University of the Arts Helsinki. His work often involves the conceptual mapping of history and identity through photography and design. He has also served as a doctoral advisor and has been involved in international art projects, including at the Venice Biennale.^[1,2]
