Jason Langer

Jason Langer is an American photographer born in 1967 in Tucson, Arizona. His work is deeply influenced by Buddhist philosophy and explores existential themes such as the fragility of the human body, masculine and feminine principles, and the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. He graduated with a BA in Photography from the University of Oregon in 1989. Langer's career includes significant projects like 'Shadow', which explored existential ideas, and 'Secret City', a series of night photographs of anonymous men in New York. He has published several monographs, including 'Secret City' (2006), 'Possession' (2013), 'Twenty Years' (2015), and 'Berlin' (2022). Langer has taught photography at the Academy of Art University for over a decade and currently teaches for Santa Fe Workshops and Medium San Diego. His work is held in permanent collections including Yale University Art Gallery, Zimmerli Art Museum, and the International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum.[1,2]
