Jeremy Richard Seabrook

author

Jeremy Richard Seabrook (1939–2024) was a distinguished English author, journalist, and social commentator who spent over 60 years chronicling the experiences of the working class and the marginalized. Born in Northampton, Seabrook was both a teacher and a social worker early in his career, which informed his deep empathetic connection to his subjects. He wrote extensively about social change in post-war Britain, as well as about poverty and development in India and Bangladesh. His literary output included over 40 books and hundreds of articles, characterized by a unique blend of reason and emotion. Notable works include 'Pauperland: Poverty & the Poor in Britain' and 'The Song of the Shirt'. He was a regular contributor to national newspapers and a significant voice on issues of class and environment.[1,2,3]
